This simple starter is easy and comforting. And if you’re ambitious enough to make your own cheese it’s a great way to show off your cheese making skills.
For this recipe you’ll need:
- Curry spice mix. Use any blend you like. My recipe is here.
- Paneer cheese
- Cooking oil
- Honey
- Vinegar. I prefer sherry vinegar but white vinegar also works nicely.
- Salt
Slice the paneer into 1/2″ thick slices. Lightly sprinkle the cheese with some of the spice mix and gently rub it into the surface of the paneer.
Create a sauce – for every 1 tablespoon of honey add 1/4 teaspoon of the spice mix and 1/4 teaspoon of vinegar. Add a pinch of salt. If the sauce is too thick, add a drop or two of hot water.
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Cook the paneer in the hot oil until it’s puffy and soft, about 2 minutes per side.
Serve the paneer warm. Drizzle with the honey sauce.
Enjoy!
