Sierra Nevada Brewery

We just returned from a great weekend at Lassen National Park.  On the way to the park, we stopped at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico.

Visiting breweries is an activity close to my heart.  I think my family toured every Budweiser brewery on the east cost when I was a child.  At least it feels like it – we toured a lot of them!

Sierra Nevada has a nice tour but the best part is the restaurant and tasting room.  In addition to all the beers you can buy in your local store, you can taste the beers created by the beer camp.  BTW – beer camp sounds like a ton of fun!

Luckily our hotel was in stumbling distance of the brewery so we tried a tasting portion of just about everything on the menu.

A few of our favorite beers were

  • Ovila Golden – a Belgian style ale.  I liked the fruity flavor.
  • Brux – Another Belgian style, also a bit fruity.
  • Floral IPA – This is one of Beer Camp beers, so it’s not widely available.  It tastes, you guessed it, floral with a lot of hops.
  • Oatmeal Stout – Another Beer Camp beer.  I liked the roasted malt flavor.

Our fridge is full of bottles of the above purchased at the gift shop.  Yum.
