I love cranberry sauce and serve way too many different flavors at Thanksgiving. This bourbon based sauce will be a new addition to this year’s meal.
For this recipe you’ll need
- 12 ounces whole cranberries
- 4 tablespoons molasses
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
Combine all ingredients except the bourbon in a small saucepan. Add 3/4 cup water. Bring to a gentle boil and reduce heat to low.
Simmer until the berries start to burst. For chunky cranberry sauce, keep stirring to a minimum and remove the sauce from the heat just when the berries start to burst. For smoother sauce (shown here), leave the sauce on the heat for a few more minutes and stir occasionally to break up the berries.
When cooking is complete, stir in the bourbon. Chill and serve.
Enjoy!
